Led by sitarist, composer, and producer Purbayan Chatterjee, this ambitious project brings together traditional and classical music from India with jazz and rock influences from the west. The album boasts an impressive lineup, including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Béla Fleck, Antonio Sanchez, Michael League (Snarky Puppy), Gary Husband, V. Selvaganesh, U. Rajesh, Shankar Mahadevan, Jordan Rudess, Thana Alexa, Ustad Rashid Khan, Anat Cohen, Taufiq Qureshi and many more. Saath - Saath

Purbayan Chatterjee, an acclaimed sitar player and composer from India, has recently released his latest album, Saath Saath. Drawing inspiration from the original spirit of the raga tradition, Purbayan seeks to find a new voice in his music, channeling the teachings of his early-life mentor and Indian classical master, Nikhil Bannerjee. Collaborating with lifelong friend and flautist, Rakesh Chaurasia, this album features 7 ragas for morning and night, recorded in Bombay in March 2022.

Saath Saath was performed and toured in the United States and United Kingdom throughout September and October 2022. The debut album performance took place at New York’s Carnegie Hall on August 14, followed by a show at London’s Barbican as part of the Darbar festival on October 16th.

Purbayan and Rakesh have been close friends for two decades, sharing a similar musical path that often branches beyond the classical tradition.
